Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Here

For flights arriving into Cebu, Cebu Pacific has 2 – 3 flights to Siargao daily. For flights arriving into Manila, Skyjet flies once daily direct, connecting flights can also be made with Cebu Pacific from Manilla via Cebu.

Airport pick up and drop off

Airport transfers can be arranged at the time of your booking, please be advised we need 24 hours notice for pick ups. The airport is roughly a 45 min drive away and the standard price of 300 peso per person per trip is applied. This charge will be conveniently added to your room bill. Once we receive your flight details and confirmation of pick up, there will be a driver waiting for you upon arrival outside the small terminal building. He will be holding a sign that says Soul Tribe Beach Retreat as well as your names.

Visas

You can enter the Philippines without a visa for an initial period of 30 days. You may also get a tourist visa from the Philippine Embassy in your country before you travel.

Currency

Local currency is the Philippino peso. Please be advised that it is highly recommended to bring any cash you may need for your trip with you to the island. This can be drawn at the airport or done through any of the currency exchange companies in Cebu or Manila. The only ATM on the island is a 20 min ride away and is often out of service. If you can get small bills this will be an added advantage as change can sometimes be an issue with smaller traders.

Food and Drinks

Khaya is our in-house restaurant and bar. We serve healthy fresh meals for breakfast and light snacks throughout the day. Meals are not included in the room price. Breakfast is a la carte and we occasionally host 'Pop up' dinners which are served family style, check with front desk for these special events.

Fresh Drinking Water

Due to our ‘No single use plastic’ commitment all rooms and tents have a glass water bottle that may be refilled from our drinking water tank as many times as you like during your stay. With all those fun activities we suggest you stay hydrated as much as possible.

Yoga & Massage

Yoga schedules will be posted weekly and will be held at our open air raised Yoga deck with a fresh sea breeze and magnificent view of the ocean. Massages can be arranged from 60 min to 120 min. Our in house massage can be enjoyed in your room or in on our yoga deck. Contact reception to make a booking.

Surf

We only work with the best local surf guides who will either get you on your first wave or help you drop into any of the more advanced surf breaks near to the resort. Surf board hire can also be arranged. Contact reception to book your lesson.

Other activities

We have SUP’s for rent at the lodge, along with free use of our bicycles. Horse riding, fishing, diving and kitesurfing can be organized through reception. Room rates do not include activities.

Getting around the island

A Scooter or Motorbike rental is the best way to explore Siargao, this can be arranged at reception at a rate of US$8 a day. For larger groups we recommend renting a ‘Bing go’ tricycle. Come and speak to us at reception.

Weather and swell

Siargao has a tropical climate, making it warm and humid through out the year.

Dry season is Jun – Oct,

Wet season is Nov – Mid May

July & August is usually the best time for beginner surfers when the swell is smaller as well as those looking for sunny days with a soft breeze.

September  to Nov/December is peak swell season for those guests that are coming to Siargao to score bigger waves at the famous Cloud 9 and many other local breaks. See this blog post for more details on surf spots. Don’t worry learners there are plenty of small gentle waves for you too.

November to March is the best time for those interested in kitesurfing with winds being predominantly cross shore. Our Beachfront location is perfect for kitesurfing with a large sandy bay protected from the swell making it perfect for learning or progressing.
